It's not irrational for Americans to get upset about health care. The present system is clearly unworkable, long term, and it is an impenetrable jungle for many right now.

The problem is not the debate. It is the tangle of self interest, corporate interests, political interests, ignorance and well funded lying that is a serious problem. You can find some more detailed comments in my blog unclej0.blogspot.com. I see no reason to repeat them here.

It is facts, not sincerity, that are lacking. Facts are mostly what your commentary deals with. I admire that.

David, thanks for the comment.

You say "people are frustrated with government intervention." You're right, but the problem is that they will not give it up. The ones who are most upset are those currently retired and on Medicare. They want the government to spend less money, but give them everything they want and certainly not "ration" Medicare benefits. Demanding all these things at the same time is simply irrational. It makes no sense.

From my prospective, a government take over of health care, is just the nail in the coffin for what has been a 40 plus years of a gradual fall into socialism. In principal I believe that if the government had not become involved in so many aspects of our lives we would have and will be better off. That is not to say that less government intrusion does not have is pains.

There is a price for freedom and that can come in many forms, but that is a price I am willing to pay.

Social Security, Medicare/medicaid, Welfare etc.---How much do you want the government to do for you? Where does it end? We do truly have a Nanny-State and I would like to see the direction change.

The cast of characters we have elected is an absolute joke. These characters are ignorant, naive, amoral or some combination thereof. They will stop at nothing to implement their idealism.

So, are people afraid of loosing what they have? This is likely the case for some but more importantly, people are frustrated with government intervention and the escapades of some really ridiculous characters.

If you think people are unruly in town hall meetings now, just wait, it will get worse. People are not rude for doing this, they are mad at the attempted takeover of their country. They realize the characters they are there to see, already believe they know what is right for them.

People are angry because of the recession and stupid things they did. This is all a diversion.
