The Global X S&P/TSX Venture 30 Canada ETF (TSXV) began trading March 17, 2011, becoming the first fund to track the S&P/TSX Venture 30 Index. Canada’s TSX Venture Exchange is home to many junior mining and exploration firms, and it provides investors with the opportunity to invest in these early stage emerging companies.
The underlying S&P/TSX Venture 30 Index provides exposure to the 30 most liquid securities of the S&P/TSX Venture Composite Index. Although most of the listed companies have Canadian headquarters, many have operations extending far beyond North America and into Asia, Africa, South America, and Europe.
The current holdings consist of just two sectors with Materials accounting for 53.9% of the fund and Energy 46.1%. Stocks currently having allocations greater than 5% include Atac Resources Ltd 8.6%, Canacol Energy Ltd 8.1%, Bear Creek Mining Corp 7.0%, Rainy River Resources Ltd 7.0%, Rare Element Resources Ltd 6.9%, Canaco Resources Inc 6.8%, Ithaca Energy Inc 5.6%, and Alange Energy Corp. 5.3%.
